12 (twelve) seats in the Legislative Council of Telangana from Local Authorities’ Constituencies are lying vacant as detailed below :

Election Schedule :

The Commission has decided to hold Biennial Elections from the above mentioned Local Authorities’ Constituencies of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Telangana Legislative Councils in accordance with the following Schedule

3. Scrutiny of nominations 10th December, 2015 (Thursday)
4. Last date for withdrawal of candidatures 12th December, 2015 (Saturday)
5. Date of poll 27th December, 2015 (Sunday)
6. Hours of poll 8.00 AM to 4.00 PM
7. Counting of Votes 30th December, 2015 (Wednesday)
8. Date before which election shall be completed 1st January, 2016 (Friday)

The term of office of the members to be elected to the above Legislative Councils from Local Authorities’ Constituencies will be subject to the decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in SLP(c) No. 17123/15 (Election Commission of India Vs Devesh Chandra Thakur & Others).

The Model Code of Conduct will come into force with immediate effect in the district(s) in which the above Constituencies are comprised. In addition, the ECI instructions relating to defacement of Public & Private properties shall also be applicable. A detailed instruction with regard to applicable provisions of Model Code of Conduct for this election is being issued separately
