After taking into consideration various factors like, climatic conditions, major festivals, prevailing law & order electoral rolls, availability of central police force etc., the Commission has decided to hold bye-elections to fill these vacancies.

Schedule for holding bye-elections in Assembly Constituencies of Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Jharkhand and NCT of Delhi is as under:

Electoral Roll :
The Electoral Roll with reference to 01.01.2017 has been finally published on 05.01.2017 in respect of West Bengal, Sikkim and Tamil Nadu, on 10.01.2017 in respect of Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, NCT of Delhi and Karnataka, on 16.01.2017in respect of Rajasthan and Jharkhand and in respect of Assam and Kerala the electoral roll was published on 20.01.2017 and 14.01.2017 respectively

Model of Conduct :
The Model Code of Conduct shall come into force with immediate effect in the district(s) in which the whole or any part of the Parliamentary/Assembly Constituencies going for bye-elections is included, subject to partial modification as issued vide Commission’s instruction No. 437/INST/2012/CC&BE, dated 26th April, 2012 (available on the Commission’s website).

The Model Code of Conduct shall be applicable to all candidates, political parties and the State Governments concerned. The Model Code of Conduct shall also be applicable to the Union Government for the States concerned.
