About Hindustani Awam Morcha Party

Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), abbreviated HAM(S), is an Indian political party with a presence in Bihar. In Bihar, this party is also a natural Allies of National Democratic Alliance (NDA). It was launched formally on 8 May 2015 by former Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi.

In July 2015, the Election Commission recognised HAM(S) as a political party. The election symbol of the party is a wok.The party won four seats in the 2020 Bihar Legislative Assembly election and Shri Santosh Suman was made a minister in Nitish Kumar’s cabinet.

Social Justice & Reservation:
** Judiciary Reservation: Pushing for reservations for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) in the appointment of judges to the High Courts and Supreme Court.
** Political Representation: Proposing separate constituencies for SC and ST candidates to ensure more direct representation for these communities.
** Caste Census: Advocating for the publication of a caste-based census to better tailor social welfare programs.

Agriculture & Rural Welfare:
** Free Electricity: Providing free electricity to farmers who own up to five acres of land.
** Loan Waivers: Waiving agricultural loans for farmers with landholdings up to 10 acres.
** Land for Landless: A commitment to provide land to landless farmers to support rural self-sufficiency.

Education & Governance:
** Common Schooling System: Implementing a uniform schooling system to bridge the gap between different socio-economic classes in education.
** Liquor Policy Reform: Proposing changes to Bihar’s prohibition laws (Bihar Excise Act, 2016) to allow exemptions for SC and ST communities for traditional brewing purposes.
** Women’s Respect: Emphasizing the party’s role within the NDA government in ensuring “proper respect” and representation for women.
