About YSR Congress Party

The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu (YSR) Congress Party, often shortened to simply the YSR Congress Party, is an Indian regional political party based in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The party was initially registered with Election Commission of India by Kolishetti Shiva Kumar.

After the sudden death of the then-incumbent Chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR) in a helicopter crash in September 2009, his son, Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the incumbent MP from Kadapa requested Sonia Gandhi to make him chief minister but party denied his request.
