Sikkim Krantikari Morcha Bahini Scheme

“Bahini Scheme” aims at providing Free Sanitary Napkins to Girl students studying at Government Schools from Class 9 onwards. Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim Shri PS Golay proclaimed that the State Government would be launching a New Scheme which will primarily cater to young girl students and has been titled as “Bahini Scheme”.

“Bahini Scheme” aims at providing Free Sanitary Napkins to Girl students studying at Government Schools from Class 9 onwards. Sanitary Napkin vending machines will be installed at Government Schools which can be utilized by the Students.

Bahini Scheme is to reduce the dropout rate of girl students due to the lack of accessibility/availability of Sanitary Napkins & also to ensure menstrual health and hygiene. Under this scheme, over 18,000 girl students who study in class 9 and above are provided with free sanitary napkins in the state.

Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) party is for the poor, weak, naive, ignorant, untrained, backward, unenlightened, marginalized, underprivileged and oppressed citizens of Sikkim. Having said that we do not make the rich poorer by making the poorer rich. We are very clear that citizens are not merely amass of flesh to be governed. In democracy, individuals of all sections of society should be able to raise voices against the oppression and injustice done by a despotic power.

In fact, creation of a veil of ignorance among the masses would allow the dictatorial regime to capture power, at ease, through the electoral process. This process makes the citizens feel higher degree of numb that undermines the core values of democracy. Keeping the above in views, we consider democracy as the cradle of liberty and promise liberty and justice to all from the dictatorial regime. To institutionalize the very idea of democracy, we advocate the equal opportunity and justice to all and reject outright the one-man dictatorial regime in democratic Sikkim.
